Professor Neamtu received a PhD in mathematics in 1991 from the University of Twente, the Netherlands. His current research interests are in approximation theory, splines, geometric design, numerical analysis, and in quantitative and financial mathematics. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses, mainly in analysis, statistics, numerical analysis, and financial mathematics. He is the director of graduate studies in the Department of Mathematics and is a member of the Center for Constructive Approximation. He is on the editorial board of the prestigious journal Mathematics of Computation. Professor Neamtu has been actively involved in organizing numerous international meetings and conferences.
