White House Middle School, Meadows
Road
White House, TN
The Hot Sumner Bike Race will again this year start and finish near the White House Middle School. Refreshments for racers will be provided at the school.
There will be a feed zone at the top of Cap's Gap. A map will be provided at day of race. Riders must provide their own feed support in the designated area. There are no plans at this time to provide wheel vehicles; however, such support might be arranged by race day.
Directions to Course: From Nashville, take I-65 North to Exit 108. Exit right to White House onto Hwy 76 East. Take 76E 1.1 miles to Hirsch Parkway (also marked as 258 South). Turn right onto Hirsch Parkway and continue to the second traffic light, this is Tyree Springs Road. Do not turn onto Tyree Springs Road. Proceed through the intersection, the road becomes Meadows Road. White House Middle School is the second school on the left. The Middle School is three miles from I-65.
Course Description: The race course for the Hot Sumner Bike Race is a 24-mile loop characterized by numerous sharp turns and short straights. The pavement is smooth throughout and much of it is new. The elevation changes are mostly gradual and rolling with some notable exceptions.
Highway 25 gives an uninterupted run of six miles that includes a fast, steep descent and an extended run for a high-speed pace line. The turn onto Liberty Lane leads to the first steep, but short, climb of the loop. At the end of Liberty Lane, before turning onto Upper Station Camp Creeek Road, is a bridge with rough pavement where care must be taken.
The major climb of the course will be a climb up Cap's Gap that starts at mile 20 of the lap and continues about one mile. The finish for the race is a flat straightaway on Palmer's Chapel Road.
