Page Design Tips

I. Everything Actually Works
- HTML tags are correctly input
- links to remote sites are current and checked for validity frequently
- CGI and Javascript do what they are supposed to do
II. You Can Read It
- background isn't busy or loud
- colors of text and background complement rather than clash
- fonts used in body are "serif" (example: Times)
III. It's Text Browser Friendly
- all images include an alt tag
- doesn't have excessive use of horizontal rules
- all information contained in an image map is also included in a text location
IV. You Won't Grow Old WaIting for It to Load
- graphics are kept within a small window width
- frames aren't used excessively
- no large JPEG or GIF files to 1oad
- doesn't have too many images or image maps
V. It's Unique
- isn't just another list of lists
- is informative and current to maintain audience's interest
- includes your e-mail address
VI. It Won't Drive You Crazy
- makes limited use of BLINK, or better yet no use of BLINK
- every other word isn't a hypertext link
- organization makes sense and is easy to follow
- meaningful headings are provided above sections
- each page is no longer than two or three screens
- doesn't have that "click here" mentality
